WEBSITE HOSTING
The cost for website-hosting is $120.00/yr. I use MIS Inc., which is located in Albuquerque. I know the staff personally and work with them regularly. After the initial startup, after one year, you will be billed directly by them at the rate of $120.00 annually.
The cost for purchasing your own domain name, or whatever domain you choose (that is available) would be $15 /yr. I would suggest that you pay this domain name fee five or ten years in advance so you don’t have to hassle with annual renewals. Five years would be $75.00, ten years would be $150.00. Included in the total package would be six e-mailboxes that would be associated with your domain name: anynameyouwant@yourdomainname.com
Those are the costs for webhosting and securing your domain name so that no one else can use it. They are the same fees I pay for my website and are not part of my web design package, although I can arrange for all of this set-up if you wish, without any additional charge above the costs I have noted. If you have a specific web host in mind with which you would like to do business, that’s fine. All I would need from that host is the access codes they assign, along with a password.
WEBSITE DESIGN & MAINTENANCE
As for my end of it, the actual design of the website, I charge $400.00 for the basic static site design; i.e., a home page, and three additional pages with navigation buttons to guide you around the site, placement of whatever images, and whatever text you want to describe your services, including links to your e-mail, and any contact information you want posted. This fee does not include animations or moving components. Any additional pages beyond the original four (4) will be billed at $25.00 /hr., with a fair estimate for total time needed given in advance.
Approval and signing of this proposal will be accompanied by a $200.00 retainer, payable to Thomas Ormsby, which is non-refundable. Once the site is posted, and up and running on the Internet, you will have 20 calendar days to order changes to any of the pages at no charge. After 20 calendar days, all changes to the site as it is will be billed at the rate of $25.00 / hr., with a $25.00 minimum. This rate includes other features you might want down the road, including Flash animations (moving banners, animated letters and simple drawings and any moving objects). I will always keep track of my time and send a detailed invoice.
Though the website will reside on Thomas Ormsby’s computer, the contents of the site shall be considered to your intellectual property, and you shall also be referred to as the “owner” of the site. Should the owner ever decide to have someone else take over the site for redesign, changes and or maintenance, Thomas Ormsby will turn over all password and access codes (to the site) to the owner at no cost, and the owner will, from that moment on, exempt Thomas Ormsby from all responsibilities with regard to the site, including any and all charges or costs accrued for any reason.
